Merry Christmas to all . . .

I hope this post finds that you all have had a very merry Christmas. For me, I had to work today, but it's really no big deal. I'm going to Kansas tomorrow to spend the first half of the week with family. It will be nice. I'm looking forward to spending time with my grandparents and parents and anyone else who happens to be there! Since my last post, my 29th birthday has come and gone. That's correct, I am officially in my last 20 something year, as my daddy put it. I didn't have to work on my birthday. Just kinda took it easy. I did get some help getting my desk area done in the house and amid all the rumble have again misplaced my camera. I will post pictures as soon as I find it! Sorry to keep your hopes up, but that will give me a chance to get it organized and looking spiffy before I show it to you!

The days are rapidly flying by as January 17th quickly approaches. I still have a lot to do, but have so much already done. I still feel like I'm in a dream. Talk to me this time next year and I'll let you know if the dream is real or if it is a nightmare.

My tree

Thought I would post a few pics of my tree and a few of my decorations and a pic of the family from thanksgiving. (Sorry it's taken so long). I found out yesterday that I got A's in both my classes. Now I just have to get through 4 more semesters and then pass the NCLEX and I can start the rest of my life. Have a great day!

Finished

Well, I am actually completely and entirely finished for the semester. I was able to complete my computer class today by finishing one last little project. Then after our chemisty lecture final, our professor allowed us to take our lab practical early since we missed class on Wednesday because of the ice. So, I opted to take the lab practical (because it was open note and open book - besides who could refuse that!), and now I am finished! I love this time of the semester because you have a feeling of accomplishment. I think I may have even pulled off A's in both classes! (I know, for those of you who know me well, this is a BIG accomplishment! Ha!) Now, I have to continue getting ready for nursing school. The time is drawing near. I have received my beautiful white uniforms (picture to follow eventually) and and slowly but surely collecting my books. Today was the first day our cd of our syallbi for our classes was available. That's right, our syallbi are so long and in depth that they give them to us on cd! I have printed two of the three. I get overwhelmed at times, but then I jump back to reality and realize that I can do this! (Thanks to all my wonderful supporters and cheerleaders out there!) I guess I have rambled enough for now. I will check in with you again soon. Enjoy hearing from me so often because I'm sure once nursing school starts, you'll be lucky if you hear from me once a week! LOL!

Ouch!

Ok, so my car accident wasn't quite just a bump to my vehicle. It seems that it has also affected me. I worked on Thursday - a full 12 hour shift and by mid-day I didn't think I was going to make it. I took motrin, but it didn't help. By 6:30, I was finished. I went downstairs to the ER and registered (after talking to my insurance company and the other driver's insurance company to make sure I would get my money back). My lower back hurts so bad I can hardly stand it. Of course they did xrays and such. Those came back normal. The dr said my pain is probably muscular and I needed to take two or three days off of work. Gave me a muscle relaxer and pain pill and sent me on my way. Thankfully I have a wonderful friend who came and sat with me because there was no way I was driving home! She dropped me off at home and then went and filled my pills. I haven't been in this much pain in a really long time. It has to go away. I can't afford to miss this much work, but I can't work in this much pain. I wouldn't be any good to anyone. So, in the mean time I get to rest and hopefully finish up my computer class.

I just got off the phone with my sweet nephew, Devon. He asked me if I was feeling better and I told him what happened with the car accident. His reply was "That wasn't very nice!" Then I had to explain that it was icy and slippery and all that fun stuff. Now Carla will probably have to go back and do some more explaining because I think Devon thought the car actually hit me instead of my car.

Let It Snow!

Well, winter has officially arrived in Texas. And along with winter comes bad weather. And along with bad weather comes bad roads. And along with bad roads comes accidents. That's right, I was rear-ended on my way home from school today. But, don't worry, I'm fine. My CRV is ok, just has a little bit of damage to the muffler and the bumper. Unfortuately, on Monday, my next day off, I'm afraid everyone else will be taking their cars in from their fender benders. The only thing I'm glad about is that I didn't hit someone and that neither one of us was hurt. The plan for tonight is to stay inside while it ices and snows outside. I'll have to leave for work extra early in the morning. Gotta let the car warm up so I don't have to scrape ice and then have to drive really slow so that I don't hit anyone! Other than that, I love winter! It's cold outside and warm inside.

I got my Christmas tree decorated last night. It brought back lots of childhood memories. This is the first tree that I've done in several years, so I didn't realize how many ornaments I had from when I was a kid. It looks good. As soon as I remember where I put the camera from Thanksgiving, I'll post some pics of the tree and also of Thanksgiving.

Big plans ahead . . .

Ok, since I haven't posted in awhile, I thought I would let you know about the ideas floating around in my head. I have had one of those massive brain storming days. Everywhere I go and everything I do brings another thought to my head that I need to get done before nursing school starts. To start with I have this grand idea of making a desk by attaching shelves at desk level to the wall. At first I wanted to do it at the bar area in the living room, but the more I've thought about it the more I want it done in the dining room. I have a table up, but I never use it. Why waste space? I need to be as organized and together as I can be for this two year venture. So after I get this project finished (with the help of a few friends from school whose husbands know how to use power tools properly), I have to get it organized with the proper supplies and such. I have to get tray organizers, staplers, hole punchers, etc. The list keeps growing, but by the time I finish, I will have the perfect office!

The other thing I have to do is get my notebooks and such in order. For me to do that, I have to spend massive amounts of time with my friend, Holly, who is a semester ahead of me in nursing school. This is a big benefit for me. I have insight on how things are going to work. Holly has also taken several classes with me, so she knows how I organize and take notes and such. This also is a huge benefit. We spent almost half an hour tonight (while I was on my way home from school) talking about what I need to get and shouldn't waste my time on.
